I have seen many calls the last few weeks about computers being infected.  Most of these infections are coming in the form of fake antivirus alerts.  Many are named Personal Antivirus or Green Antivirus.

If anyone sees either of these icons on their computers, please stop using it and contact me immediately.  If I can get to the problem before it gets bad, it is a simple fix.  If it is left to get worse, I sometimes need to reinstall everything.

I have read many articles online on how to fix this infection and I can tell you that it is not always the same fix for each infection.  Most of the time there are other infections on the computer.

I also have not been able to find a common theme as to where this infection is coming from.  My recommendations are to keep your computer up-to-date with Windows Updates and run Trend Micro Internet Security.  Make sure to keep following my guide on Proper Computer Maintenance.

I have made an observation that I have not seen anyone with the Trend Micro Internet Security software infected with this newest infection.  Does that mean that Trend Micro can stop everyone, of course I can’t say that. I still recommend this software over every other software.
